O disco não é tão conhecido e apresenta uma sonoridade diferente. Os Peppers trouxeram o guitarrista Dave Navarro, ex-Jane's Addiction, para o lugar de Frusciante, tornando a sonoridade do grupo mais pesada e psicodélica. E este é o melhor trabalho de guitarras do Peppers.

- Os Peppers aviadaram neste disco. É desta época o famoso beijo na capa da Rolling Stone.

- A cuíca na música Walkabout.
